Report: X-rays negative for Broncos QB Drew Lock

Broncos quarterback Drew Lock suffered a right hand injury in the second half of a preseason game against the 49ers on Monday evening. Lock left the game to have X-rays done and did not return.

The X-rays came back negative, according to KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis. That’s good news as it likely means the right-handed quarterback did not suffer a broken hand or a broken thumb (Lock appeared to fall on his right thumb on the play he was injured).

Before leaving the game, Lock went 7-of-12 passing for 40 yards and rushed twice for 11 yards. Lock is competing with Kevin Hogan for Denver’s backup job behind Joe Flacco and he appears to have taken the lead.

After Flacco left Monday’s game, Lock was the second Denver quarterback to play and he got some time with the Broncos’ first-team offense. He’s still listed as the No. 3 QB on the depth chart, though.
