Report: WR Cameron Meredith visits with Patriots

Receiver Cameron Meredith visited with the New England Patriots this week, according to ESPN’s Josina Anderson. The New Orleans Saints cut him on Monday after one year with the team.

He was placed on injured reserve in November with a knee injury. Before getting shelved, Meredith recorded nine receptions for 114 yards and one touchdown in six games.

The Patriots depth chart at receiver is in a state of uncertainty, with Julian Edelman (thumb), Demaryius Thomas (Achilles) and Josh Gordon (suspended). As a result, rookie wideouts Jakobi Meyers and N’Keal Harry have taken a large amount of snaps with the first-team offense. The Patriots also have Phillip Dorsett, Maurice Harris, Ryan Davis and Braxton Berrios, among others, in the mix.

It’s unclear if the Patriots are interested in signing Meredith. It will surely depend upon his physical condition, and whether he’s still impacted by the knee injury he suffered in 2018.
