Report: West Virginia QB Will Grier to visit with Patriots

The New England Patriots are hosting West Virginia quarterback Will Grier for a pre-draft visit on Wednesday, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

He is projected to be a mid-round draft pick and that could place him a perfect position for New England. The Patriots have 12 total picks in the NFL draft and they have seven picks in the first four rounds. This gives them the flexibility to draft a quarterback like Grier and still address all the needs that they have outside of the position.

Grier spent his first season with the Florida Gators, and finished his last two seasons out with the West Virginia Mountaineers. He is a 6-foot-2, 220 pound pocket passer that put up exceptional numbers in his two years with West Virgina. Last season, he was able to rack up 3,864 yards, 37 touchdowns and do it with a 175.5 quarterback rating.

The Patriots also hosted Duke quarterback Daniel Jones on Wednesday — who will likely be a first-round pick.
