Report: Washington releases running back Samaje Perine

Another surprise roster move is reportedly coming out of Washington on Cut Day, as the Redskins have apparently released veteran running back Samaje Perine.

It was well known that Perine was on the bubble coming into roster cuts, but most expected him to be the last man named to a four-man backfield that features Adrian Peterson, Derrius Guice, and Chris Thompson. Fellow bubble-RB Byron Marshall was also contending for the final spot, but he was expected to be the one cut.

We don’t know if Marshall will make the team because of this news, but if the Redskins are looking to keep four healthy RBs, he would be next in line.
