Report: Washington could be receiving discipline from NFL after report

After the findings that were released to the world on Thursday evening, the Washington football team could be facing discipline from the NFL going forward.

That much was said in a statement from the NFL on Friday morning, where they said that action will be taken based on the findings from the team’s attorney. In the statement, the NFL also said that Washington has come forward and pledged it’s full cooperation to the investigator.

While discipline likely will not reach the level of forcing team owner Dan Snyder to sell the team away from his family ownership, it very well could result in a significant fine, as well as a potential loss of draft picks in the future. Remember that just earlier this offseason, the New England Patriots were fined $1.1 million and forced for forfeit a third-round pick in 2021 for the crime of improperly videotaping the Cincinnatti Bengals sideline during the 2019 season.

It’s an understatement to say that Washington’s crimes were much worse than that, as 15 former employees came forward to The Washington Post to tell their stories and accuse several staff members of both verbal and sexual abuse over the past decade. While investigators are digging into the organization in Washington, the NFL will undoubtedly start to consider what punishment fits the crime.
