Report: Warriors to rescind qualifying offer to Quinn Cook

The Golden State Warriors have to make shrewd free agent decisions as they rebuild their roster. After bringing in Willie Cauley-Stein and Glenn Robinson III on Tuesday, the Warriors have to let a few guys go.

According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the Warriors are going to rescind a qualifying offer to backup point guard Quinn Cook which will now make him an unrestricted free agent and they won’t be able to match any deal he signs.

Cook averaged 6.9 points and 2.1 rebounds in 74 games with 10 starts in 2018-19 while shooting 40.5 percent from deep. He can be a viable point guard option for plenty of teams and he could even possibly start for somebody.

This will be a much different Warriors team that will take the court in 2019-20 with the new additions of Cauley-Stein, Robinson III, and D’Angelo Russell replacing Kevin Durant and Andre Iguodala while Klay Thompson will miss the majority of the season with an ACL injury.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Golden State moving forward as they look to continue to stay in the Western Conference race.
