Report: Warriors sign Quinndary Weatherspoon to 10-day COVID-19 hardship deal

Like many teams around the NBA, the latest COVID-19 surge is having an impact on the Golden State Warriors. Both Jordan Poole and Andrew Wiggins have entered the league’s health and safety protocol.

With a pair of starters out, the Warriors are using the NBA’s newly announced hardship exception. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Warriors are signing guard Quinndary Weatherspoon to a 10-day COVID-19 hardship deal.

Via @ShamsCharania on Twitter:

Weatherspoon has played nine games with the Warriors G League affiliate in Santa Cruz this season. The 25-year-old is averaging 16.1 points on 44.2% shooting from the field with 4.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.

Prior to joining the Santa Cruz Warriors, Weatherspoon spent training camp with Golden State.

Weatherspoon was drafted in the second round of the 2019 NBA draft by the San Antonio Spurs out of Mississippi State. Weatherspoon played 31 games in two seasons with the Spurs.

Golden State’s newly signed guard should be available for Thursday’s contest against the Memphis Grizzlies at San Francisco’s Chase Center.
