Report: Warriors sign Draymond Green to 4-year max extension

The Golden State Warriors have undergone plenty of changes in the offseason, but one guy who will still be around is Draymond Green.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Warriors will sign Green to a 4-year $100 million maximum extension. He was set to be a free agent in 2020 and the Warriors wanted to quickly lock him up. They did the same with Klay Thompson, who was a free agent now when they locked him up early in free agency.

Green is coming off a season where he averaged 7.4 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 6.9 assists, but you can’t equate his value through numbers. He does all of the little things and he is the heart and soul of the team.

Green has spent his entire seven season career in Golden State and has made the All-Star team three times. His numbers could go up now with Kevin Durant gone and Thompson expected to miss a majority of the season. There will be more expectation for Green to step up.

The important thing is, the Warriors are keeping Green in the fold as the team continues to push forward. His experience will help with the younger guys the team is bringing into the fold.
