Report: Warriors Make Decision on Dwight Howard After Two-Day Visit

If Dwight Howard returns to the NBA this season, it will not be with the Warriors.

After a two-day visit with Golden State, the Warriors have opted against signing the free agent center, according to Shams Charania of Stadium.

“The Warriors are not expected to sign Dwight Howard or another veteran center ahead of training camp,” Charania said in a report on Friday. “Howard had a two-day visit with the Warriors this week that included meetings and workouts, but the Warriors are expected now to maintain flexibility to sign a potential big man later in camp or into the regular season.”

Charania added that he expects Howard to speak with any other interested teams about a potential return to the NBA over the next week or so.

Howard, who turns 38 in December, last played in the NBA with the Lakers in 2021. In 60 appearances in Los Angeles that season, Howard averaged 6.2 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.

Howard spent last season in Taiwan, where he averaged 23.2 points, 16.2 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game for the Taoyuan Leopards.
