Report: Warriors extend qualifying offer to big man Jordan Bell

The Golden State Warriors will have some big free agency decisions to make when it comes to Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant, but they also want to be able to retain some of their younger talent as well.

Young big man Jordan Bell just wrapped up and up-and-down second season in the league averaging just 3.3 points and 2.7 rebounds, but the Warriors see enough in him that they want to continue to develop him. He even earned a start in Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors.

According to Yahoo!’s Shams Charania, the Warriors have extended a qualifying offer to the 24-year old which will make him a restricted free agent. This would give Golden State the right to match any offer Bell would sign in free agency.

Another one of those free agents is DeMarcus Cousins and with the possibility of losing him, the Warriors would have a nice fallback option in Bell who has shown some potential in the early part of his career,

Free agency officially opens Sunday evening at 6:00 p.m. EST.
