Report: Warriors’ Andrew Wiggins cleared to play in Game 1 vs. Kings on Saturday

Just in time for the start of the postseason, the Golden State Warriors could have their full core available for the first time since mid-February.

After returning to the team at the tail end of the regular season after an extended absence due to a personal matter, Andrew Wiggins could reportedly be available to start the playoffs on Saturday against the Sacramento Kings.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Wiggins is cleared to play in Game 1 against the Kings on Saturday in Sacramento. Charania is also reporting the Warriors are leaning towards bringing Wiggins off the bench in a 20-to-25 minutes role.

With Wiggins coming off the bench, the Warriors could stick with a similar starting lineup that Kerr used to close the season with Donte DiVincenzo in the backcourt alongside Steph Curry and Klay Thompson. If the Warriors opt to go small against the Kings, Jonathan Kuminga could enter the starting lineup with Kevon Looney coming off the bench.

Wiggins could provide an immense spark and significant piece depth off the bench next to Jordan Poole and Gary Payton II.

The No. 6 seed Warriors will meet the No. 3 seed Kings on Saturday night for Game 1 of the opening round of the playoffs at 5:30 p.m. PT in Sacramento.
