Report: Warriors Andre Iguodala $17.2 million trade exception set to exprire on Nov. 23

Leading up to the start of the NBA season in December, the Golden State Warriors will be busy. After an extended offseason, Bob Myers and Steve Kerr have business to handle before the Warriors make their long-awaited return to Chase Center in San Francisco.

With the Warriors close to being on the clock with the No. 2 overall pick in the NBA Draft on Thursday night, the team will have to keep an eye on the trade market.

As key dates for the 2020-21 season are being revealed, the Warriors officially have an expiration date for the $17.2 million trade exception they received from moving veteran sixth-man Andre Iguodala to the Memphis Grizzlies last offseason.

According to John Hollinger of The Athletic, the Warriors traded player exception is set to expire on Nov. 23.

At 9 A.M. PST on Monday, the NBA will lift the moratorium on transactions and trades, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

The Warriors can absorb the entire $17.2 million on one contract or break the trade exception up to acquire multiple players. With heavy contracts on the books for Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins, the Iguodala trade exception will provide the Warriors the opportunity to be active with player movement.

If the Warriors plan to compete at the top of the Western Conference next season, filling out their roster an established NBA veteran and a top prospect from the draft is a good place to start for Myers and Kerr.
