Report: Vontaze Burfict facing season-long suspension for hit on Jack Doyle

Oakland Raiders linebacker Vontaze Burfict was ejected during Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts following a late helmet-to-helmet hit on tight end Jack Doyle.

As the league looks to reprimand Burfict—who is no stranger to these situations—he reportedly is facing a season-long suspension for the egregious hit he delivered on Doyle during the first half of the Raiders’ upset win, per Chris Mortensen of ESPN.

Not only has Burfict had a penchant for late and dirty hits throughout his career, he appears to show no remorse for his actions. This hit on Doyle is exactly what the league has been trying to avoid.

After grabbing the catch on one knee, it is apparent that Doyle isn’t going anywhere. Yet, Burfict still finds it necessary to storm in like a torpedo helmet first for an unnecessary blow.

It remains to be seen how long the suspension will be, but a season-long suspension might not be enough at this point.
