Report: Vikings WR Laquon Treadwell available for trade

In perhaps the least-surprising news you’ll hear, the Vikings have made 2016 first-round pick Laquon Treadwell available for trade.

Via Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated:

I’m told that, with the emergence of Chad Beebe, former first-round receiver Laquon Treadwell is available again. And while no one’s moving anything significant for him, maybe there’s a team out there that’s willing to give up the kind of Day 3 pick the Vikings just surrendered.

The Vikings drafted Treadwell 23rd overall in the 2016 draft. And while the 2018 season was his best as a pro, it’s not really saying a lot. He had just 35 catches for 302 yards and a touchdown.

Minnesota probably won’t get a whole lot for Treadwell, who is due $1.8 million in 2019. Treadwell holds a cap hit of $3.1 million in 2019, but the Vikings could release him for a penalty of $2.5 million, which would save them about $600,000 in cap space, via Spotrac.

We’ll see if any teams show interest in Treadwell, or if the Vikings try to show him off in preseason.
