Report: Vikings to sign CB Bene’ Benwikere

After working out veterans Orlando Scandrick and Morris Claiborne, the Vikings came to terms with a cornerback.

Per Mike Garafolo, the Vikings will sign Bene’ Benwikere.

Benwikere was a fifth-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft and has played for the Panthers, Cowboys, Cardinals and Raiders. In 2018, he played 11 games for the Cardinals (starting eight), before being released and signing with the Raiders to close out the season.

With Holton Hill suspended for the first eight games of the 2019 season, the Vikings needed some depth at the cornerback position, and we’ll see Benwikere compete for a roster spot throughout training camp and preseason.

Benwikere joins a cornerback group that includes Hill, Mackensie Alexander, Terrance Alexander, Kris Boyd, Craig James, Nate Meadors, Xavier Rhodes, Duke Thomas and Trae Waynes.
