Report: Vikings talking about a move up to late teens of the NFL Draft

Vikings general manager Rick Spielman told reporters he was entertaining offers to move both up and down in the NFL Draft.

Now, Ben Goessling of the Star Tribune reported that the Vikings are looking to move up, specifically to the late teens in the draft. However, Goessling said if the team wants to make that happen, it might have to include its second round pick, which is No. 58 in the draft.

The move could help the Vikings land better talent at a position of need, but trading an extra pick or another asset runs the risk of missing out on players the team likes later on in the draft. Personally, I don’t know about trading a second-round pick, just to only move up a little bit in the draft. Seems like the Vikings’ assets might be better off if they just stay where they are at.

But Minnesota does have two first-round choices, and 12 draft picks in total. We’re going to have to see what happens.
