Report: Vikings sign former 1st-round pick Josh Doctson

Two days after releasing 2016 first-round pick Laquon Treadwell, the Vikings are signing another 2016 first-round pick — Josh Doctson, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Doctson was the No. 22 pick in the 2016 first-round pick out of TCU, but has been somewhat of a disappointment in his first three seasons in the league, although not on the same level as Treadwell.

He has career numbers of 81 catches for 1,100 yards and eight touchdowns. He had his best all-around season in 2018, finishing with 44 catches for 532 yards and two touchdowns.

That now makes five wide receivers on the Vikings roster. Doctson joins Adam Thielen, Stefon Diggs, Chad Beebe and Bisi Johnson.

While he’s the last receiver to join the roster, don’t be surprised if he ends up as the No. 3 or No. 4 receiver on this depth chart.

The Vikings will have to make a corresponding move. We’ll update you when we know who they’re releasing to make room for Doctson.
