Report: Vikings, Browns, Jets and Eagles are teams most interested in trading for Trent Williams

Redskins tackle Trent Williams is reportedly unhappy in Washington, and Minnesota is among the top teams that are interested in helping him leave.

Les Carpenter of The Washington Post reported that the Vikings, Browns, Eagles and Jets are the four teams most interested in trading for Williams.

The Post also reported that the logistics of the deal have been tough, because teams have either had trouble working out a deal for Williams, or the teams don’t want to give more than low-round draft picks.

Minnesota landing Williams is great in theory for the outlook of the offensive line. However, the team is just over $12 million in cap space for 2020, according to Over The Cap. If Williams wanted a new deal right away, it becomes difficult for the Vikings to give him his market value right now.

The Vikings have enough cap space in future seasons, though, where if Williams wanted to take a smaller cap hit on this year, or maybe not sign a new deal right away, then the Vikings could have an easier time in reaching a deal.

Right now, Williams cap hit for 2020, on his one-year contract, is $14.5 million, per Over The Cap, which means Minnesota would have to clear space in order to sign him at the moment.
