Report: Vikings are signing kicker Greg Joseph

It’s no secret that Minnesota struggled on special teams last season. One of the team’s most-glaring weaknesses was its kicking game. Dan Bailey, after a resurgent 2019, had a plethora of missed field goals and extra points down the stretch of 2020.

Now, the team is reportedly going to bring in some kicking competition. The Vikings are signing kicker Greg Joseph, according to Joesph’s agent.

Joseph has game experience with both the Titans and the Browns. He played for Tennessee in 2019, where he made all of his extra points in two games played. He did not attempt a field goal that year.

Before that, he played 14 games for the Browns in 2018. He made 85% of his field goals that year and a little over 86% of his extra points.

Joseph is a relative unknown in terms of holding down a starting kicker role in 2021. That said, he should be ample competition for Bailey, a historically accurate kicker who has struggled as of late.
