Report: Vikings are probably ‘the team to watch’ for Redskins tackle Trent Williams

Earlier in the offseason, Minnesota reportedly showed interest in adding Redskins tackle Trent Williams, ESPN’s John Keim reported.

On Saturday, Keim added an additional report on his podcast, The John Keim Report.

“I know Minnesota was definitely one of the teams interested,” Keim said on the podcast. “I think they’d probably be the team to watch. Whether they get him or not, I don’t know.”

If Minnesota actually pulled through with the trade, it would bolster the offensive line, which has looked inconsistent at times. But Minnesota could very well have to give up key assets such as early draft picks, safety Anthony Harris or tackle Riley Reiff.

Harris is one of the best safeties in the NFL, coming off a season where he had six interceptions. Reiff is serviceable and provides versatility on the offensive line. Losing Reiff means the team has to replace two starters off 2019’s offensive line, assuming the team doesn’t re-sign Josh Kline after releasing him this offseason.

It’s hard to work out with the salary cap, but Williams’ presence would be huge. We’ll see if anything happens.
