Report: Veteran CB Tramaine Brock visiting Jags

With veteran corner Rashaan Melvin opting out Thursday, the Jacksonville Jaguars have decided to re-visit the free-agent market for a replacement. Per NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the team has brought in former Tennessee Titans cornerback Tramaine Brock for a visit, and if all goes well, he could be a Jaguar very soon.

Veteran CB Tramaine Brock, who mostly recently played for the #Titans, is visiting the #Jaguars, source said. If all goes well, he should sign. Back for an 11th season, Brock would the void left by CB Rashaan Melvin’s opt-out due to COVID-19 concerns.

Brock, 31, entered the league in 2010 as an undrafted free-agent with the San Francisco 49ers. He was with the organization when Jags director of player personnel, Trent Baalke, was in the front office both as a vice president of player personnel and general manager. Afterward, he spent time with the Seattle Seahawks, Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos, and Arizona Cardinals.

Brock will enter 2020 with 56 starts, 262 total tackles, and 11 picks on his career. If signed, he would bring a great deal of experience to the Jags cornerback room which currently has first-round rookie C.J. Henderson and third-year player Tre Herndon set to start. They also selected a cornerback Josiah Scott in the fourth-round of the 2020 NFL Draft and have three undrafted rookies battling to potentially make the team in Amari Henderson, Luq Barcoo, and Kobe Williams.
