Report: Vernon Davis enters the concussion protocol; status uncertain for Sunday

When a team is down, sometimes that doesn’t spare them from being kicked.

Another major injury of note was announced on Tuesday afternoon, as The Athletic reported that Washington Redskins tight end Vernon Davis has entered the concussion protocol.

Davis, who has been the main TE of note in Washington this season with Jordan Reed sidelined all season, has played decently through the first four weeks, and he scored the first touchdown of the year for the Redskins.

While the Redskins don’t yet know if Reed will be available for this week’s game against the New England Patriots, judging by past tendencies, there are no signs point towards him suiting up.

In the case that both Reed and Davis are out on Sunday, look for the Redskins to use one of their open roster spots to try and pick up a TE and add him to the roster this week. Whoever that may be, alongside Jeremy Sprinkle, will surely get an expanded workload if Davis can not play.
