Report: Trent Brown expected to make decision quickly in free agency

New England Patriots tackle Trent Brown is expected to make his decision quickly about free agency, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport. The Patriots have decided to let Brown test free agency, which will likely result in his departure from New England.

Brown started every game at left tackle for the Patriots after they traded a third-round pick to the San Francisco 49ers to acquire the offensive lineman during the 2018 offseason. He was excellent in his first full season as a left tackle. He was so good, in fact, that the Patriots are unlikely to stay in the bidding process for his services.

If Brown departs in free agency, the Patriots would likely turn to 2018 first-round pick Isaiah Wynn, who could step in as the team’s left tackle. With Wynn returning from an Achilles injury, they could explore other options, including re-signing tackle LaAdrain Waddle.
