Report: Tom Brady wasn’t 100% this year, will have minor knee procedure in offseason

To make Tom Brady’s Super Bowl LV victory even more impressive, the 43-year-old had minor knee discomfort that bugged him for the duration of the season.

According to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, Brady suffered the knee injury during the year and he’s set to have a minor surgical procedure this offseason as a ‘clean up.’  Brady played in all 16 games in the regular season, while dominating all four playoff games he appeared in during the postseason.

Bruce Arians discussed his method of resting Brady slightly during the year and it may have been linked to the knee discomfort.

“You’ve got to be super involved as a coach, but with [Brady] it’s not about Xs and O’s,” he said, via Sam Farmer of the L.A. Times. “It’s making sure he’s comfortable and feels good about the game plan and work week. He’d text me and say, ‘Do you mind if I don’t throw Wednesday?’ I was like, ‘Yeah, I don’t care.’

“I’d ask him, ‘Do you want to take mental reps or do you just want to sit back?’ He’d say, ‘I just need to sit back.’ And we did that two or three times during the season.”

Brady plans to play past the age of 45 and his relaxed environment, along with this minor procedure could help get him to that goal.
