Report: Tom Brady, Bill Belichick conversation was ‘business as usual’

After an earlier report from the Boston Herald’s Karen Guregian that a phone call between Tom Brady and Bill Belichick about the quarterback’s future in New England “didn’t go well,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter is now reporting that the conversation was “business as usual.”

As Schefter reports, the conversation did not take place on Tuesday, which was in Guregian’s report.

Now, even though it would seem that Schefter’s report paints a bit rosier of a picture, NBC Sports Boston’s Tom Curran notes that a conversation that was “business as usual” may not necessarily be a good thing.

At this point, sorting through these reports and trying to figure out what might be true or not is exhausting, and it’s clear we are at peak rumor season.

Should Brady leave New England, one of his potential destinations could be with his good friend Mike Vrabel and the Tennessee Titans, a team some consider to be the favorite to land him.

We’ll finally have some answers in two weeks when the new league year begins on March 18 and free agents can officially begin signing. The legal tampering period begins two days before that on March 16, so it’s possible we’ll have some clarity even sooner.

If there’s something we all could use at this point in the offseason, it’s clarity — and that’s especially true with Brady’s situation.
