Report: Titans ‘showing legitimate interest’ in FIU QB James Morgan

The Tennessee Titans are going to address their backup quarterback situation at some point during the offseason in order to bring in another signal-caller who can compete for the backup job with Logan Woodside.

One of the avenues the Titans can take to do that is through the 2020 NFL Draft, but until now we haven’t seen any reports of the team actually meeting with quarterback prospects.

Florida International quarterback James Morgan has been steadily rising up draft boards, and not only have the Titans met with him, but it seems they might be serious about taking him later this month.

According to Yahoo Sports’ Eric Edholm, the Titans are among the teams who “appear to be showing legitimate interest” in Morgan.

It’s somewhat hard to believe the Titans would use a mid-round pick on a backup quarterback with bigger needs to fill, but stranger things have happened.

While head coach Mike Vrabel and general manager Jon Robinson have both praised Woodside, the truth is he has never taken a single regular season snap. On top of that, he hasn’t shown many qualities to lead anyone to believe he can keep the Titans afloat if Ryan Tannehill gets hurt.

Of course, drafting a quarterback kind of leaves the Titans in the same boat as far as experience is concerned, but at least Tennessee can get a look at multiple signal-callers to help make the best decision.

And, perhaps the Titans get lucky and find a franchise quarterback in the process.

Will Morgan be that guy? Only time will tell.
