Report: Titans QB Marcus Mariota suffered more injuries than we thought in 2018

There’s no denying Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota has suffered his fair share of major injuries since being drafted in 2015.

But according to reporter Paul Kuharsky, Mariota was injured more than many knew about last season.

Mariota missed three starts in 2018, and was unable to finish three games due to injuries sustained in the action. Backup signal-caller Blaine Gabbert appeared in eight games in his relief.

Mariota’s first major injury occurred in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins when he was stepped on, causing an ulnar nerve injury in his throwing arm.

There was also the neck stinger he suffered against the Indianapolis Colts in November that was reaggravated against Washington that ultimately left him sidelined for the season finale.

Kuharksy also reports he was dealing with a cracked verterbra, “presumably with the initial stinger.”

You can add a plantar fascia tear that worsened throughout the season, a strained oblique, broken rib and sprained AC shoulder to that list as well.

Mariota appeared on thew Week 13 and Week 15 injury reports with an abdomen injury, the Week 14 report with a right hand issue and the Week 17 report marked with both a neck and foot injury.

According to recent reports from the team, Mariota is making a full recovery from his injuries, and is expected to be at fully capacity to start for the 2019 season.
