Report: Titans’ Desmond King to make debut in Week 9 vs. Bears

Newly-acquired cornerback Desmond King II will make his Tennessee Titans debut in Week 9 against the Chicago Bears, according to beat writer Paul Kuharsky.

King was involved in a pre-deadline trade between the Titans and Los Angeles Chargers that saw Tennessee give up a sixth-round pick.

The slot corner was unable to get into the building until Saturday and will be taking the field with only Zoom meetings and a walk-through under his belt.

However, the Titans desperately need their newest player, as injuries continue to ravage the secondary. Adoree’ Jackson looks unlikely to suit up once again after missing practice on Thursday and Friday, Tye Smith’s status is up in the air after not practicing Friday, and Kristian Fulton is on Injured Reserve.

The only healthy cornerbacks the Titans have on the 53-man roster right now are Malcolm Butler, Chris Jackson, Kareem Orr and Chris Milton. Tennessee also has Breon Borders on the practice squad.

King is expected to man the slot, while Butler and some combination of Jackson, Orr or Borders could be deployed on the boundary.

Either way, the Titans will be short-handed in the defensive backfield once again in Week 9, which has been the case the entire season.
