Report: Titans’ A.J. Brown considered week-to-week with chest injury

Tennessee Titans wide receiver A.J. Brown is set to miss his second game of the 2021 season in Week 12 as he deals with a chest injury suffered during the Week 11 loss to the Houston Texans that knocked him out of the game early.

Brown, who was ruled out for the contest against New England Patriots on Sunday, is considered week-to-week, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler (H/T Kayla Anderson, WKRN), who also notes the 24-year-old was in too much pain to play this week.

Earlier in the week, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Brown’s initial rib X-rays had come back negative, but that he was set to undergo more tests. This update from Fowler is the first since Rapoport’s report.

As far as the next couple of weeks are concerned, the Titans will have a bye in Week 13 before returning to action in Week 14 versus the Jacksonville Jaguars, giving Brown an extra week to get right without missing a game.

Brown has been playing through injury for much of the season. In the 10 games he has played the Ole Miss product has 48 receptions for 615 yards and three touchdowns.

With Brown, Marcus Johnson (IR) and Julio Jones (IR) out, guys like Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, Chester Rogers and Dez Fitzpatrick will have to pick up the slack. It’s also possible we see the Titans debut of veteran Golden Tate, who was signed to the team’s practice squad earlier this week.

Tennessee and New England will kick off from Gillette Stadium at noon CT on Sunday.
