Report: Thunder officially sign center Nerlens Noel

In the midst of the huge news that sent forward Paul George to the Los Angeles Clippers, the Oklahoma City Thunder announced a signing of their own: Nerlens Noel is officially re-signing with the Thunder.

Noel played 77 games for the Thunder last season, starting twice, serving as a change-of-pace center who gave Steven Adams a spell.

Last year, Noel averaged 4.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.25 blocks in just under 14 minutes per game. Noel shot just under 59 percent from the field and was a great defensive presence for a Thunder team that prided itself on that side of the ball.

Even with Noel coming back, the Thunder could look dramatically different next season. George is already gone to the Clippers for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Danilo Gallinari. In the fallout after the George trade, it was reported that Russell Westbrook could be on his way out as well with the team looking to potentially move him via trade this summer.

The terms of Noel’s deal were not immediately announced.
