Report: Thunder expressed interest in Jodie Meeks

As NBA free agency continues to roll on, there continue to be fewer shooters for the Oklahoma City Thunder to negotiate a deal with — if they intend to address that need.

One long-range threat who is still available is veteran shooting guard Jodie Meeks, who has been in the NBA since 2009-10. Meeks is a career 37.3 percent three-point shooter and joined the Toronto Raptors in 2018-19 at the tail-end of the regular season after the Bucks released him once he’d served his 25-game suspension for violating the NBA/NBPA Anti-Drug Program.

According to Brett Dawson of The Athletic, Oklahoma City has expressed interest in Meeks:

The Thunder could use their taxpayer mid-level exception to sign Meeks, though it’s likely they could acquire him on a veteran’s minimum, like the Milwaukee Bucks were able to with Wesley Matthew, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski:

Matthews had been a player of interest for the Thunder previously, with Paul George and Russell Westbrook trying to recruit him.
