Report: The Bears are in talks with former Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater

According to a report, the Bears are talking to Saints quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, which could mean that the former Vikings player would be on a division rival.

Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio reported that a source familiar with the matter told him that the Bears are talking with Bridgewater.

Bridgewater is a free agent this offseason, so he’s free to sign with whomever he chooses. If it is the Bears, there’s a possibility he could take the starting spot from Mitch Trubisky.

Chicago Tribune‘s Brad Biggs reported that the Buccaneers are also interested in signing Bridgewater, so it’s obviously not set in stone as to where Bridgewater lands.

But if he does end up taking over in Chicago, I’m sure many Vikings fans will be conflicted. Bridgewater had led the Vikings to the playoffs in 2015-16, but suffered a gruesome knee injury.

The Bears won the NFC North in 2018-19, but regressed this season, finishing with an 8-8 record.
