Report: Texans working out RB C.J. Anderson

The Houston Texans aren’t done tinkering. According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, they are bringing in veteran running back C.J. Anderson for a workout on Tuesday.

The Detroit Lions released Anderson on Sept. 17th, after the team signed him to a deal in free agency. The veteran back played two games for the Lions, totaling 43 yards on 16 attempts, good for 2.7 yards per attempt.

In 2018, Anderson split time between the Carolina Panthers and Los Angeles Rams. For the season, he rushed for 403 yards and two touchdowns on 67 attempts, equating to 6.0 yards per carry.

In the 2018 playoffs, Anderson became a folk hero for his valiant efforts with the Rams in a Todd Gurley-injured world. In the divisional round, he tore up the Dallas Cowboys defense to the tune of 123 yards and two touchdowns on 23 attempts.

The Texans currently have four running backs on the roster: Carlos Hyde, Duke Johnson, Taiwan Jones and Buddy Howell. Hyde and Johnson are the only to receive rushing snaps in the first three weeks of 2019.
