Report: Texans sign tight end Jerell Adams back to the practice squad

Tight end Jerell Adams continues to bounce back and forth between the Texans practice squad, their active roster and free agency. 13 days after Houston released Adams from the practice squad, they have signed him again, per Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.

Houston previously released Adams from the practice squad to make room for Houston-native Keenen Brown (Alief Taylor). The Texans released Brown on Saturday.

Adams, 27, spent 2018 with the Texans practice squad. He earned a spot on the 53-man roster after a standout preseason. He previously played with the New York Giants after selecting him in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft out of South Carolina.

Adams started the 2019 season on the Texans’ 53-man roster. The team did not activate him following their 30-28 Week 1 loss to the New Orleans Saints.

As a member of the practice squad, Adams is free to sign with any team’s 53-man roster if he chooses to do so.
