Report: Texans Sign Former Pro Bowl LB Denzel Perryman

The Texans have reportedly landed another veteran free agent signing, agreeing to a one-year deal with former Pro Bowl linebacker Denzel Perryman, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Perryman, 30, will make way for Houston after spending the last two years with the Raiders. In his first year with Las Vegas, he pieced together his best professional season, racking up 154 tackles and earning his first and only Pro Bowl nomination.

This past season, Perryman was limited to just 12 games, but still managed to make a significant impact, amassing a career-high 14 tackles-for-loss in his appearances.

A second-round selection out of Miami back in 2015, Perryman began his career in San Diego with the Chargers and remained with the franchise for the next six seasons. Perryman then signed with the Panthers in the spring of 2021, only to be traded to the Raiders before ever playing a snap in Carolina.

Now on his way to Houston, Perryman is poised to join a number of other recently signed players as the Texans continue to bring aboard veterans. Experienced contributors such as Jimmy Ward, Dalton Schultz, Devin Singletary and Shaq Mason have all joined the AFC South franchise heading into 2023 with the team poised to select a quarterback with the No. 2 pick in April’s NFL draft.
