Report: Texans release veteran tight end Logan Paulsen

The Houston Texans continue to shuffle their 53-man roster.

On Tuesday, the Texans released tight end Logan Paulsen, per Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.

Paulsen, 32, signed with the Texans on Sept. 2nd, after the team placed young tight ends Jordan Thomas and Kahale Warring on the designated to return injured reserve.

Paulsen filed in as a backup tight end for Houston but did not record a snap with the team. He previously played with the Washington Redskins, Chicago Bears, San Francisco 49ers and Atlanta Falcons.

Houston’s release of the eight-year veteran is a corresponding move to their trade for cornerback Phillip Gaines and promotion of wide receiver Steven Mitchell to the active roster. The team needed to clear a spot to add both to the 53-man roster.

With Paulsen released, the Texans have two tight ends on the active roster, Jordan Akins and Darren Fells. Thomas and Warring are eligible to return following Week 8’s bout with the Oakland Raiders.
