Report: Texans release C-G Greg Mancz

The Houston Texans have valued experience in their 2020 roster construction, but they appear to be going in another direction for their interior offensive line.

According to Mike Garafolo, the Texans have decided to release center-guard Greg Mancz in a surprising move on Saturday. Mancz signed a two-year contract extension with the Texans in 2018 that kept him under contract through the 2020 season. Mancz also started 16 games for the Texans at center, and, after Nick Martin took over the starting center job, he found utility as depth along the interior offensive line. In 2019, Mancz was active for nine games and started in one of them.

The Texans have the same versatility that Mancz provided along the interior offensive line with Senio Kelemete and starting guards Zach Fulton and Max Scharping, who took snaps at center during training camp.
