Report: Texans offensive line coach worked out Villanova’s Brandon Hitner

Houston Texans offensive line coach Mike Devlin held a private workout with former Villanova Wildcats offensive tackle Brandon Hitner, according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.

Hitner is 6-6 and weighs 300 pounds. In 2018, he played in only seven games due to a knee injury, which is affecting his draft stock. Hitner is expected to slip through the draft and be available as a free agent once the draft is over. He was invited to the College Gridiron Showcase at the end of the 2018 season.

In 2017, Hitner started every game while also earning the Colonial Athletic Association Commissioner’s academic award, indicating that he is more than a big ugly in the trenches.

With the Hitner workout, it is clear the Texans are doing their due diligence when it comes to the young offensive line talent set to become available in the 2019 draft, and when it is over and other talent has slipped through the cracks.
