Report: Texans impressed with RB D’Onta Foreman’s offseason work

One of the priorities for the Houston Texans this offseason has to be addressing the running back situation. As the 2018 season wore on, quarterback Deshaun Watson became their leading rusher as Lamar Miller and Alfred Blue continued to stumble their way out of contention for the future position.

Drafted in 2017, the Texans felt they might have brought in a long-term starter in D’onta Foreman out of the University of Texas. He had a very quiet start to the year, but by the time Week 11 rolled around and they faced the Arizona Cardinals, he scored two touchdowns on 65 yards before ending the game and his season with a ruptured Achilles.

Recovery for the former Doak Walker award winner took longer than many expected, and when he did finally return for Houston’s Week 16 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, it was clear that he was far from ready.

Thankfully for the Texans the latest update regarding Foreman is a positive one, as the Houston Chronicle’s John McClain told Sports Radio 610 about the encouraging reviews he had been hearing out of NRG Park.

The Texans will be hoping he can return to his end of 2017 form soon, and get a strong training camp under his belt to potentially take on a more prominent role in this offense going forward. Not to mention the fact that it will surely be in the back of his mind that chances are the Texans will be bringing in at least one new back this offseason to contend with.
