Report: Texans formally request interview with Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio

The Houston Texans are getting closer to making a pitch for New England Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio.

According to John McClain from the Houston Chronicle, the Texans put in the word Monday with the Patriots to request a formal interview with the Patriots front office boss.

Caserio is no question a general manager candidate that coach Bill O’Brien would endorse. In 2007, O’Brien’s first season with the Patriots, Caserio was the receivers coach while O’Brien was an offensive assistant. In 2008, as Caserio took the job of director of player personnel, O’Brien took over Caserio’s old role as receivers coach.

As noted in Albert Breer’s latest edition of Monday Morning Quarterback, there is a close connection between Caserio and O’Brien.

Adding Caserio would be another step in the process to making the Texans the Patriots South of the NFL. So far, the results have produced three playoff appearances and a playoff win while the Patriots have won three Super Bowls in that span.
