Report: Texans bring in QB A.J. McCarron for a visit

The Houston Texans need a backup quarterback behind starter Deshaun Watson, and they are evaluating the options in free agency.

According to Ian Rapoport, the Texans will fly in former Cincinnati Bengals and Oakland Raiders signal caller A.J. McCarron for a free agency visit.

McCarron’s best work was in 2015 when he filled in for an injured Andy Dalton, went 2-1 in the final three games, and nearly led the Bengals to a wild-card playoff victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The former 2014 fifth-round pick from Alabama has a career 64.0 completion percentage and has thrown six touchdowns to two interceptions. McCarron has a 92.4 passer rating for his career.
