Report: Texans and Lions to hold joint practices in second week of preseason

The Houston Texans will hold joint training camp practices with the Detroit Lion ahead the club’s encounter in Week 2 of preseason.

According to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, the Texans will host the Lions at NRG Stadium for a preseason game on Aug. 17. In the days leading up to it, the teams will have joint practices.

As noted, Houston coach Bill O’Brien is a fan of training camp practices because it allows his team to go against good competition.

“I do think that when you go against good competition for a couple of days in a row, in full pads, the different situations that come up, the different skill sets that you have to deal with across the ball from you, I think that’s really good,” O’Brien said.

Now, the Texans will have that chance. After having joint practices with the Green Bay Packers leading up to the first week of preseason, the Texans will get to continue the trend back home at NRG Stadium.
