Report: Terry Rozier to Hornets in sign-and-trade for Kemba Walker

The Boston Celtics made their first big move in free agency with the expected signing of All-Star point guard Kemba Walker to a 4-year $141 million deal. In order to make the signing complete, the Celtics would have to give up some salary as part of a sign-and-trade.

That piece headed to the Charlotte Hornets is Terry Rozier. The Louisville product has spent his entire four years in the NBA in Boston and averaged nine points and 2.9 assists in 2018-19. He had a big 2018 postseason when he took over for an injured Kyrie Irving and averaged 16.5 points, 5.7 assists, and 5.3 rebounds in leading the Celtics to within one win of the NBA Finals.

He will now have his shot in Charlotte to be the main point guard and be the unquestioned leader as the Hornets now begin their rebuild.

Rozier had a tough 2018-19 as he had to readjust with Irving coming back, but with the Hornets he can now get back to his 2018 playoff form and prove that he can be that guy again. Charlotte won’t have the same type of success as the Celtics initially, but he will have a chance to change things there.
