Report: Teddy Bridgewater will re-sign with Saints

The New Orleans Saints are expected to reach an agreement with quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, per Jane Slater of NFL Network. Slater reports that Bridgewater spurned a bigger offer from the Miami Dolphins, his hometown team, to remain in New Orleans in hopes of taking the wheel from Drew Brees down the road. She also credits Bridgewater’s connections in the locker room and the culture he helped create with the Saints over the last year as a big factor in getting him to stay.

This is a big, big move. Bridgewater is just 26 and has proven he can win in the NFL. Getting him another year or two of practice reps behind Brees, a sure thing for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, could very well set the Saints up for sustained success after the Saints retire that No. 9 jersey.

We don’t yet know the terms of Bridgewater’s contract with the Saints. Stay tuned for updates.
