Report: Teams interested in trading for Texans DE/OLB Jadeveon Clowney

Teams across the NFL have been asking the Houston Texans about the price for edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney in a trade.

According to Jay Glazer, NFL insider for Fox Sports, the inquiry about Clowney is lost along with the inquiries of other pass rushers as the news cycle fixates on where Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Antonio Brown will land.

If the Texans were to deal Clowney, they would need a hefty offer. The former No. 1 overall pick is a three-time Pro Bowler and an All-Pro who has been effective off the edge for Houston. While Clowney may not have produced a double-digit sack season yet, only Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald, Arizona Cardinals edge rusher Chandler Jones, and New Orleans Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan have had more tackles for loss since 2016.

Houston has big contract decisions coming up that could impact how they view Clowney. The looming contact extension for quarterback Deshaun Watson is only going to grow as he continues to make his impact in the NFL. General manager Brian Gaine has done a good job in his short tenure to build to win immediately, but now he has to balance that desire with a view of the future.
