Report: Super Bowl Champion Linebacker Signing With AFC Contender

The Bills have agreed to terms on a one-year deal with former Rams outside linebacker Leonard Floyd, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. It’s unclear how much the deal is worth at this time.

Buffalo adds yet another stout linebacker to its already-solid group of defenders—including eight-time Pro Bowler Von Miller. The two outside linebackers won Super Bowl LVI together while in Los Angeles.

Floyd, 30, appeared in all 17 games for the Rams last season and tallied nine sacks along with 59 tackles and a career-high 22 quarterback hits. Despite his play, Los Angeles ranked 19th in total defense and 21st in scoring defense last season, and the team finished 5–12.

On the flip side, the Bills ended the 2022 season 13–3 but again missed out on an elusive Super Bowl appearance, losing to the Bengals in the divisional round. Buffalo’s late free-agency splash shows the team is still looking to improve with the aim of getting over the hump in 2023.
