Report: Stefon Diggs wanted to be treated like a No. 1 elsewhere

Minnesota has made some moves this offseason, and the Stefon Diggs trade has been arguably the most memorable one.

The Vikings gave the Bills Diggs and seventh-round pick for Buffalo’s first-round pick, fifth-round pick, sixth-round pick and a 2021 fourth-round pick.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler , the motive for Diggs had something to do with the value Minnesota got in the trade, and Diggs’ desire to be a top priority.

“Trading [Diggs] was not the plan. But then Buffalo blew them away. Many around the league believe Diggs would have become combustible in Minnesota eventually and wanted to be a No. 1 elsewhere.”

This is tough to hear if you’re a Vikings fan. Obviously, two star receivers are better than one, and it would have been nice to have Diggs around. However, 12 draft picks in April really helps the Vikings attempt to replace a talented pass-catcher like Diggs.

A source with knowledge of the situation told Fowler this: “He left them with no choice. The deal was too good to pass up.”
