Report: Steelers to release veteran LB Jon Bostic

According to Pittsburgh Steelers beat writer Ed Bouchette the Steelers are releasing veteran linebacker Jon Bostic just hours after the close of the 2019 NFL draft.

This should be the least surprising piece of news we get about Pittsburgh. The Steelers signed Mark Barron as a free agent to bring speed to the inside linebackers. Then on Thursday pulled off a blockbuster trade to go up and draft Devin Bush to bring even more speed to the position.

Pittsburgh even used a sixth-round pick on Saturday to draft speedy inside linebacker Ulysees Gilbert III. If you figure in fellow rookie Sutton Smith could move inside the writing was on the wall for Bostic. Bostic started 14 games in 2018 and finished with 73 tackles.

And this might not be the end. Veteran Tyler Matakevich can’t be feeling too comfortable about his place on the roster with all the additions at inside linebacker.
