Report: Steelers tackle Matt Feiler signs ERFA tender

According to ESPN reporter Jeremy Fowler, Pittsburgh Steelers right tackle Matt Feiler has signed his exclusive rights free agent tender. The one-year tender will pay Feiler $645,000 for 2019.

The battle for the starting right tackle spot is setting up to be a serious showdown between Feiler, Jerald Hawkins, and Chuks Okorafor. Feiler started 10 games in 2018 in place of Marcus Gilbert and was tremendous. So good in fact, his play made Gilbert expendable via trade.

I almost wondered if Feiler wouldn’t hold off on signing his tender in hopes of working out a long-term contract to get himself a nice raise. The team still has the option to do this but if nothing else Pittsburgh has a quality starting right tackle for at least one more year at a huge bargain.
