Report: Steelers sign LB Mark Barron to a 2-year contract

If you were tired of the Pittsburgh Steelers staying idle during free agency, this offseason should get you excited. The Steelers had already added wide receiver Donte Moncrief and cornerback Steven Nelson and now according to NFL reporter Adam Schefter they have signed former Los Angeles Rams linebacker Mark Barron to a two-year contract as well.

The last two seasons haven’t been kind to Barron. After topping 100 tackles in 2015 and 2016, Barron’s game took a nosedive and was just making too much money to stay on the Los Angeles Rams roster.

Keep in mind, Barron was the No. 7 overall pick back in 2012 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Unfortunately he never really lived up to the pre-draft billing aside from those two big seasons.

Pittsburgh is probably hoping Barron can replace some of the speed lost when L.J. Fort signed with the Philadelphia Eagles. If the dollar amounts reported are accurate his salary will be very close to what Vince Williams is making and significantly more than what Jon Bostic is getting in the final year of his deal.
